The RENZ ECO S 360 wire binding machine is an all-manual 2:1 wire binder that is designed for durability, with a powerful punching mechanism that is capable of punching up to 30 sheets per pull. For increased versatility, the ECO S 360 features 28 fully-disengageable punching dies as well as an adjustable punching depth margin to help ensure a professional-looking bind on documents of almost any size. Below is a step-by-step guide to binding books with the RENZ ECO S 360 wire binder:

  1. Begin by measuring the thickness of your book using the ECO S 360’s measuring scale, which is located toward the back of the machine. The measuring scale will indicate the recommended twin-loop binding wire size for your document.
  2. Configure the wire closer to match the size of the wire that will be used. To adjust the wire closer, set the position of the sliding scale to correspond with the diameter of the wire.
  3. Set the punching depth margin using the punching depth control knob. The larger the punching depth, the greater the amount of space between the edge of the sheets and the punched holes.
  4. Position the paper guide by loosening the screw that holds it in place, sliding the guide so that it corresponds with the sheet size that will be punched, and tightening the screw to secure it. The paper guide helps to center the holes on your pages and makes for more consistent hole placement throughout the length of your document.
  5. If necessary, disengage any dies to remove partially-punched holes along the edges of your paper. Dies can be disengaged by pulling straight upward on the corresponding pin.
  6. Adjust the closing rail based on the diameter of your binding wire. The closing rail has two positions – one for use with wires from 3/16″ to 1″ and the other for closing wires from 1-1/8″ to 1-1/2″. To set the closing rail, push the buttons located on each side of the rail, then rotate it 180 degrees to change the rail position.
  7. Set the selected 2:1 pitch binding wire onto the wire holder on the front of the machine. The wire holder will keep your wire steady so that you can easily insert the pages of your document as they are punched.
  8. Arrange the pages of your book so that the back cover is on top of the front cover and they are facing one another. Turn the book over so that the covers are at the bottom of the stack.
  9. Place up to 30 sheets into the punching throat, aligning them to the paper guide.
  10. Pull the punch handle (located toward the rear of the machine) forward to punch through the inserted pages. Return the handle to its original position to retract the punching dies, then lift the punched pages out of the machine and insert them onto the binding wire.
  11. Repeat steps 9 – 10 until all of the pages of your document have been punched and placed onto the wire. Note: For best results, it is recommended that you punch the covers separately from the inner pages of your book.
  12. Lift the wire off of the wire holder and place it into the wire closer. The open side of the wire should sit flush against the back of the closer.
  13. Pull the closer handle (located toward the front of the machine) forward to engage the wire closer. The closer will stop automatically based on the wire diameter that was set in step 2. Lift the handle back into its starting position to open the closer.
  14. Remove your bound book from the closer, then flip the back cover around to the back of the book to hide the binding seam and complete the binding process.

Tips:

  • Empty the waste bin regularly to ensure smooth, consistent punching and reduce wear and tear on the machine.
  • The machine should be cleaned occasionally using either a dry or slightly moist cloth. Do not use solvents or harsh chemicals to clean your machine, as they may remove the decals.
